LIC the pioneer in Life Insurance business in India is the only financial institution in the country having Engineering department as its integral part and started its operation all over India in 1958 and now having 8 Zones. Since its inception the Engineering department is equipped with its own technical expertise offering full range of services (i.e. from feasibility studies, site selection, planning, architectural and engineering design, construction, total project management, restoration of heritage buildings, interior design and site supervision to completion & finalization of projects) and also working within the preview of the Vigilance and CTE departments. We are also taking up valuation & Consultancy works.

The department is headed by Executive Director (Engg) and the Zone headed by Chief Engineer. At present it comprises of 450 plus best trained technical and managerial professionals in various cadre i.e. from Chief Arch./ Dy.Chief Engr./Arch. to Asst. Engrs. The department has successfully completed major engineering projects with modern architecture in various part of the country. These buildings to name a few are “Yogakshema”, Mumbai, “Jeevan Bharati”, New Delhi, “LIC Building”, Chennai, “Jeevan Sudha” & “Jeevan Deep”, Kolkata, “National Insurance Academy”, Pune, “Insurance Institute of India”, BKC Mumbai, “Zonal Training Centre – Jeevan Vidya” at Hyderabad etc. The buildings constructed enjoy excellent reputation both from the point of aesthetics and durability.

Engineering department offers its users all the benefits of a firm like individualized attention and customized design as well as the stability, experience and unique advantage of an engineering institution. The upkeep / day to day maintenance (Civil & Electrical) of our own buildings (Constructed & Inherited / Heritage buildings) are done in-house. Also we are carrying out valuation of our own properties and also for other organization as a consultant.

In consultancy we have nominated Nodal Officers. The Nodal officers and their team members are handling consultancy works under the able guidance of head of the Zonal Engineering Department and are presently handling projects worth over Rs. 100 crores at various locations through out India. The team is dedicated to deliver excellent work and committed for providing quality work, timely and cost effective service as the trademark of our organization.
