' जब पंडित जवाहरलाल नेहरू जी ने 1956 में जीवन बीमा राष्ट्रीयकरण किया था तो उनका सपना था कि देश की उन्नति में जीवन बीमा निगम का एक बहुत ब ड़ा हिस्सा होगा। अगर आगे बढ़ना है तो उसके लिये बहुत .जरूरी है कि बचत बढ़े, निवेश बढ़े और इस राशि को सही तौर पर देश के आर्थिक और सामाजिक विकास की ओर लगाया जाये। इस सिलसिले में जीवन बीमा निगम का बहुत ब ड़ा योगदान है।

१९५६ से अबतक एल.आई.सी. ने काफी तरक्की की है। लेकिन अब नया जमाना आ गया है। कंम्पिटीशन का जमाना है, ग्लोबलाईजेशन का जमाना है। हमारी जो पब्लिक सेक्टर इकाईयाँ हैं उन्हें इस मुकाबले में कामयाब होना होगा। पचास साल काफी अरसा होता है। एल.आई.सी. के बहुत से गुण हैं और उन्हें देखते हुए मुझे पूरा विश्र्वास है कि एल आई सी पहले की तरह आगे बढ़ती रहेगी।

'एल आई सी की मैनेजमेंट, कार्यकर्ता और सभी लोग जो इस से वाबस्ता हैं, मैं उनसे कहना चाहता हूँ कि आपने पिछले 50 सालों में देश की काफी अच्छी सेवा की है। इसलिये आप सभी मुबारकबाद के पात्र हैं। लेकिन अभी बहुत कुछ करना बाकी है। मेरी प्रार्थना है कि अगले 50 सालों में एल आई सी बहुत तेजी से आगे बढ़े, फले-फूले और भारत की जनता के विकास के लिये संसाधन जुटाने में इसका पहले से कहीं ज्यादा योगदान हो।

' एल.आई.सी. की ५० वीँ सालगिरह पर मैं तमाम वर्कर्स को , मैनेजमेंट को बधाई देता हूँ। लेकिन साथ ही साथ मैं कहूँगा कि अभी सोने का समय नहीं है, आगे ब ढ़ने का समय है। आओ सब मिलकर एक नये भारत का निर्माण करने के लिये कंधे से कंधा मिलाकर आगे बढ़ें। '
